ORTOGRAFIE
L’impronta, intesa come caratterizzazione data dagli eventi, dal tempo, dall’azione dell’uomo che ha modellato nei secoli il paesaggio della valle Gesso, attrezzandolo di infrastrutture per prenderne possesso, viverlo e dominarlo. La conformazione della valle, vista dall’alto, sembra richiamare una mano aperta. Una sorta di vocazione naturale all’accoglienza.
Il racconto fotografico è stato realizzato durante una residenza d’artista nel luglio 2018, all’interno del progetto “SCONFINAMENTI. LA VALLE GESSO E LA RAPPRESENTAZIONE FOTOGRAFICA DI UN TERRITORIO ALPINO DI FRONTIERA” promosso dall’associazione Contardo Ferrini di Caraglio.
Assieme agli altri 4 progetti, è stato esposto in una mostra al Museo nazionale della Montagna a Torino ad aprile del 2019 ed è parte del volume “Percorsi di reportage in Valle Gesso”, Araba Fenice, 2019.
The imprint, understood as the characterization given by events, time, the action of man who has shaped the landscape of the Gesso valley over the centuries, equipping it with infrastructures to take possession, live and dominate it. The conformation of the valley, seen from above, seems to recall an open hand. A sort of natural vocation for hospitality.
Tame, shaped, climbed, surpassed, the landscape continues to host the comedy of a man in search of limits to cross and becomes the theatre of contention: a border to defend or conquer. But the man passes, on a landscape that remains, certainly changes but resists our challenges much better than we do.
He becomes patient, wise, seraphic. He inspires silence and noise, recollection and impetus, reflection and detachment, solitude and sharing. No longer a stage of greatness but a refuge in simplicity. A desert full of everything.
Really, then, the Alps become an arch – not surprisingly – from which to shoot that arrow that can overcome any limit.
